A little bit about Holtwood, Holt

An imposing three bedroom, detached chalet bungalow with a sizeable double garage set in grounds approaching 3/4 acre with scope to extend (STPP). Located in the village of Holtwood.

Property Description

Wightwick is an imposing chalet bungalow which sits in formal grounds approaching 3/4 acre. The current vendors have owned the home since the mid 1980's and we believe the original bungalow was constructed in the early 1960's. Since the current owners occupation, they have substantially extended the home by developing first floor bedroom accommodation and more recently a sizeable attached double garage (in the late 1990's) which has sufficient foundation to support additional first floor accommodation (STPP). Currently the accommodation offers three bedrooms with an en-suite to the master, a large study (which was previously bedroom four and five), formal triple aspect living room, dining room and kitchen, with adjoining breakfast room and utility. There is also an additional first floor bathroom and wc.

Gardens and Grounds

The home is approached via a five bar wooden gate and a tarmacadam driveway spreads across the width of the home. The grounds are bordered by a variety of mature hedges, with the majority of the grounds being laid to immaculately presented lawns. There are a variety of patios adjoining the property. The garage is accessed via an electronically operated up and over door.

Location

Several scattered hamlets with wonderful names; Gods Blessing Green and Pig Oak, make up Holt, itself centred around a large green, faced by pretty thatched cottages and a traditional village inn.

Holt is recorded in the Domesday Book as the 'Foresta de Winburne', a royal chase and forest. Holt is the only ancient forest in Dorset still to appear by name on the modern OS Maps. In 1985 it was designated a National Nature Reserve because of the wide variety of plants, birds and reptiles living there including several rare species such as the Sand Lizard and Dartford Warbler.

Holt is a sought after area just 3.5 miles from Wimborne town centre. Wimborne offers a diverse array of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities as well as numerous Churches of various denominations, excellent schooling in both the state and independent sectors and a variety of public houses.
